이란의 '신의 대리인'이며 절대 권력자라 불리는 하메네이가 사망했다.

 

지난달 28일 미국과 이스라엘의 이란에 대한 공격으로 포화에 잠긴 혼란 속에 숨진 하메네이에 대해 미국 트럼프 대통령은 "이란 국민이 나라를 되찾을 위대한 기회"라며 하메네이의 37년간 통치 종말에 대한 목소리를 높였고, 이란 최고국가안보위원회는 "존경받는 이슬람 지도자의 오랜 순교의 꿈이 이뤄졌다"며 40일간의 애도기간을 선포했다.

 

이란이 미국과 이스라엘에 대해 대규모 공격을 천명하고 있는 가운데 이스라엘은 이란 공격에 대비해 전국에 비상령을 내렸다.

 

한편 미국·이스라엘의 대(對)이란 공습은 호주, 캐나다 등 미 핵심 동맹국 지지와 중국, 러시아의 규탄 속에 서방 진영의 의견도 엇갈린 입장이여서 핵 개발이 불러온 이 전쟁의 미래가 전 세계의 주목을 받고 있다.
